Face Yoga - younger looking skin (!?)
During one of my crazy online shopping spree I stumbled across an innocent looking, little book called 'Danielle Collins' Face Yoga' by Danielle Collins obviously 😉 and yes, I am a book freak who requests books for birthdays and any other occasions 🤓
I was instantly interested by it because it displays my favourite approach to taking care of the skin - the holistic approach ❤️ I always encourage you to look deeper into your skincare routine - natural cosmetics chosen accordingly to your skin type are the first and for some the most important step. You also need to look for other factors that can affect your skin's health (in a positive way of course!) and face yoga sounds like something we can all add to our daily plan 🥰
Yoga for your face is basically making funny faces to your mirror 😁 and don't think that it's easy and silly - some of the exercises are quite hard and tiring at the beginning. Other components of Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method are: face massage, facial acupressure and relaxation and of course overall wellbeing. I am myself a big fan of holistic approach in general when it comes to our skin. Thanks to these techniques you will definitely relaxed and the stress level will go down.
But why am I keep talking about stress and the appearance of our skin? There's a much closer connection between your nervous system and your skin than you think.
Skin and nervous system are both developed from the same germ layer during the embrionic development - ectoderm, therefore they are connected from the very beginning of our existence. It is scientifically proven that stress can aggravate already existing or even induced quite a few skin conditions. That is why we need to RELAX! 😌
What I'm trying to do here is to give you an insight to how EVERYTHING can affect your skin. You need to be aware that prolonged stress is very harmful for your whole body.
I realise that we're living in such times where stress is an almost 'normal part' of our everyday life but we must try to minimise it as often as possible.
Here comes face yoga! 😄 not only you help your skin but you help your mind too - positives everywhere!
Possible benefits that come from doing face yoga method according to Danielle Collins:
🤍 smoother, firmer and plumper skin
💛 wrinkles and fine lines can become less visible
🧡 dark circles and puffy eyes can become less visible
❤️ tension in your face, head, neck and shoulders can disappear
💜 your mind can become clearer, your face can become brighter
💙 feeling calmer but alert at the same time (beautiful mindfulness state)
💚 calm you = happy you = happy skin 💗
I admit I don't do face exercises everyday (I really should though!) but my aim is to do at least one thing each day that makes me happy and is rewarding for skin: face massage when I cleanse, 10 minutes of yoga, meditation or visualisation. I have a pot with written affirmations and I pick one every morning 🥰 anything that can give you that positive vibe for the rest of your day.
Acupressure is another thing that I really like, especially when I feel stressed or nervous about something. You apply pressure with your fingertips to certain points on your face and body. Danielle gives a great explanation in her book why acupressure is so helpful:
▪️ can balance your energy flow
▪️ can improve blood flow
▪️ can help with pain management
▪️ can help release tension from muscles
You should try it regardless of what are your beliefs or opinion - I think there's something for everyone in this book!
When it comes to our skin we cannot just rely on products and beauty treatments - they are of course very important and indispensable part of our holistic approach to skincare. We need to feed our skin from the outside with natural and organic ingredients, we need to feed it from the inside too! Don't forget about feeding your mind with positivity - your skin will most certainly starts to glow from within!✨
