Vitamin E - the vitamin of youth
Vitamins play a very important role in our skin's health. I would like to tell you more about vitamin E as we used it in our first recipe and we will be using it almost every time.
Vitamin E was discovered in 1922. It is oil-soluble and it comes in different forms: tocopherols: alpha, beta, delta and gamma; tocotrienols: alpha, beta, delta and gamma and tocomonoenol just recently isolated. The most common is alpha-tocopherol.
Vitamin E is the main antioxidant - it protects the skin cells from free radicals slowing down the ageing process. Thanks to vitamin E skin looks more supple and wrinkles don't appear as fast😃 Vitamin E also has anti-inflammatory properties.
You will find vitamin E combined with sunflower seed oil (Helianthus Annuus) to make it pourable because vitamin E is very sticky.
We add vitamin E to our homemade oil blends and to every other product mainly for its anti-ageing properties but also to stop oils from going rancid (anti-oxidant properties).
Hope I will see you on Monday when we will be making a hot oil treatment for hair and scalp. You can find the list of ingredients needed on our Facebook page ZEA Skincare UK
